Project Overview
T-Ross Brothers Construction completed the Bertrand Library Front Entrance Patio renovation at Bucknell University in Lewisburg, Pennsylvania, transforming one of the university’s primary academic entrances into a more accessible, durable, and welcoming campus space.
The project involved extensive demolition, reconstruction, hardscape improvements, pedestrian enhancements, and infrastructure work designed to improve both the appearance and functionality of the library entrance.
The Challenge
Renovating a prominent entrance within an active university campus requires careful coordination between construction activities, pedestrian access, existing infrastructure, and the academic calendar.
The project involved removing and replacing the existing patio, retaining walls, sidewalks, and site fixtures while also addressing an underground utility tunnel located beneath the project area. Construction needed to be carefully sequenced to minimize disruption to campus activities and achieve substantial completion before the beginning of the academic year.
Our Solution
T-Ross Brothers removed the existing entrance plaza and reconstructed the area using a combination of bluestone, brick, concrete, and specialty paving systems selected to provide long-term durability while complementing Bucknell University’s established campus architecture.
Improvements included new sidewalks and concrete pads, asphalt walkways, upgraded pedestrian circulation areas, and supporting site infrastructure.
New bike shelters and bicycle parking facilities were incorporated to improve accessibility and support bicycle use on campus. Electrical systems, lighting infrastructure, and site utilities were also coordinated as part of the renovation.
Our team also completed repairs to the existing underground utility tunnel while coordinating the work with the new improvements being constructed above.
