Acrow Bridge – Milton

Project Overview

T-Ross Brothers Construction completed the Milton Steel Canal Crossing Bridge Project along Canal Street in Milton, Pennsylvania, delivering a new bridge designed to improve access and connectivity within the canal corridor.

Working in partnership with Acrow Corporation of America, the project combined heavy civil construction, reinforced concrete work, site development, and assembly of a prefabricated steel panel bridge system.

The Challenge

Bridge construction requires precise coordination between site preparation, structural foundations, bridge components, roadway approaches, and specialized erection operations.

The project required extensive excavation and grading to prepare the site, followed by construction of reinforced concrete abutments and approach structures capable of supporting the new bridge. Installation of the prefabricated steel system also required careful staging, temporary supports, specialized equipment, and precise structural connections.

Our Solution

T-Ross Brothers began with site clearing, grading, erosion control, excavation, and preparation of the roadway approaches. Additional site work included embankment shaping, gravel walkways, topsoil placement, restoration, and stabilization of disturbed areas.

Our team then constructed the bridge's reinforced concrete foundation systems, including abutments, wingwalls, backwalls, and approach slabs. Work included subbase preparation, compaction, formwork, reinforcing steel, concrete placement and finishing, along with anchor bolts and structural connection components.

For the final phase, crews coordinated the delivery, staging, assembly, and erection of the Acrow prefabricated steel panel bridge system, including bridge panels, decking, footwalks, guardrails, handrails, structural bolting, and associated components.
