This one story Green Building features meeting spaces that can serve one very large group, two smaller groups and a separate 8 person meeting room, private offices and a shower room for staff.   Some of the sustainable design principles used in this project are day lighting for rooms, reduction in water use with plumbing fixtures, regional products such as the brick, windows and shingles, recycled content finishes.  The most important part of being “green” was to illustrate to the community that a “green” building does not have to look green or space age.  Also the majority of the green items could be implemented in any new construction project without substantial additional cost.

I would like to take this opportunity to highlight Jim Spangenberg’s outstanding management of our building project here in Berwick. It was my pleasure and privilege along with the members of the Central Susquehanna Community Foundation’s Building Task Force to be able to work with him on our project. We were impressed with Jim from the beginning of the bidding process through the end of the project. Jim definitely fits the T-Ross motto of “don’t just sell your product, know it.” He is extremely knowledgeable, values the customer’s opinions and concerns along with being organized and conducting business in a professional manner. Jim impressed me and the Foundation’s building task force with his ability to retrofit ideas from our first design into the newer more efficient design – producing a professional building that fits well in a residential neighborhood. He understood the Foundation’s vision for a new office from the beginning and helped us create a practical, efficient and attractive foundation home. The Central Susquehanna Community Foundation appreciates Jim’s abilities and commitment to our project. — Eric Dewald, Chief Executive Officer, Central Susquehanna Community Foundation
